Lazy Days of Summer?

Summer has arrived, but it sure doesn’t feel like it! The weather here has been so crazy with tons of rain and cloudy skies. It’s been more like April instead of June. Anyway, all that is to say that we still haven’t gotten the hang of summertime around here.

Cate has been pretty busy. She finished a round of swimming lessons last week, went fishing for the first time (thank, Pa!) and got her hair cut. Let’s start with swimming. She likes the water, but isn’t too keen to put her face into the water. She is now blowing bubbles and doing better. We will definitely need a few more rounds of lessons. She also got about 5 inches cut off of her hair. It looks so much better and not so shaggy. Best of all, her Pa took her fishing for the first time. He bought her a fishing pole for her birthday and she has been practicing casting and reeling all winter and spring. She actually did a great job, but wasn’t too excited about the actual fish. In the picture I posted, Sean says she look really unimpressed with my Dad’s fish. However, she is really scared of it.

Peri, on the other hand, has been a bit of a handful lately. She is in a stranger danger phase and doesn’t really want me to leave the room. It’s not so handy for babysitters and the child watch gals at the gym. She’s really got a temper, too! When she gets mad, she has taken to screaming so loud and sometimes even when she’s not mad, she screams for fun. I think she is going to be the loud one. She is trying to crawl, but often gets mad and starts screaming. It’s pretty funny. We have been experimenting with her hair. She has so much, so we have been putting in pigtails and topknots. Adorable!

Sean is back and we were able to celebrate Father’s Day. The girls got him a battery operated grill brush. Boy toys – gotta love ‘em.

That’s all for today…here’s to the lazy days of summer, wherever they may be!
