4 Couples, One Town

What’s a play date for grownups? A trip to America’s playground! Sin City – Las Vegas, baby! Hens need some playtime, too, so we loaded up and flew to Vegas for the weekend. It was a fast 48 hours of food, drinks and gambling, of course!

The trip didn’t start out so glamorous for Sean and I. After booking our trip in September, we were bumped off our plane because the flight was oversold. Yes, oversold! How does that actually happen? According to SW Airlines, it’s quite common because the always oversell by a few tickets hoping that people don’t show up. So, because they have a cattle-call system for seating, we got screwed. Is it really that hard to invest in computer software to assign seats? Apparently so – and their flights aren’t that cheap. Hello, Express Jet?

Anyway, we got there on another airline and SW has to pony up. But, I will say, that under no circumstances should you book a vacation through SW Airlines (paper tickets, huge hassle) and I am going to try really hard not to fly them anymore. This is a bold statement since they do the most flights out of OKC, but I am a woman of principle (we’ll see how long this lasts!). Ok, I digress.

Anyway, the best part of Vegas was the amazing food we ate. Nob Hill (thanks, Wade!), Tao Bistro and the Burger Bar were so amazing! All I have to say is Lobster Pot Pie…get some!!!!

We didn’t win enough money to retire, but we did come home with 75% of the money we took with us, so that’s great. We Hens looked pretty fierce the whole time we were there. We sucked it in, pushed it out and didn’t look too much like Midwestern moms. Sean and I had a great time and can’t wait to go again next year – right girls?

We came back to below freezing temps, cloudy skies and kids who hadn’t stayed up for three days straight. Let’s just say, reality was jolting! I want to send a big thanks to my parents who kept the girls and were nice enough to bring them home so we didn’t have to drive our tired bodies to Okemah. Thanks, Ma & Pa!

Alright, laundry, clutter and reality are calling. Coffee, here I come!

Gotta love Vegas! One of these days Jeff and I hope to head out of town sans the kids. Until then, I'll live vicariously through your crew!
