Beach Bums

Sorry for the delay in posting. I’m back on the wagon now. These past few weeks have flown by. I can’t believe it’s already the middle of July and before you know it, school will be back in session. Wild!

We had a great 4th of July at my Grandma’s house. The girls played, while we enjoyed a ton of fresh goodies out of the garden. Between the fresh corn and homemade ice cream, I don’t think we could have asked for a better day. I took this precious picture of Cate (who seriously hates having her picture taken these days). She was swinging on the swing set I used to play on and was so happy. I love it!

Ok, moving on. Since Sean has been traveling the country non-stop, the girls and I decided to do some traveling of our own. We took a mini-vacay with my parents last week to stay in a beach-front condo on South Padre Island. We basically played on the beach, relaxed and best of all, got to spend some time with my Aunt Rene, Uncle Bob and cousin Lauren who live nearby.

We had a great time and Cate LOVED the beach. Last time we visited, she wasn’t so keen on the rushing water and dirty sand. This time, things were different. Cate played so much in the sand building castles and “blueberry” pies. She picked up a ton of seashells and generally loved being outside.

Peri is in serious teething mode, so she was a little fussy from time to time, but she did spend some time on the beach. She seemed pretty confused by the sand, but was really excited about the water at her feet. She liked "people watching" and tried to get attention from pretty much anyone who was willing to look her direction. She is now full-on crawling and has started playing peek-a-boo with her blanket. Take a look at the video below…it’s pretty cute.

I think best of all, mom got a chance to relax for a few days. While the drive was long, walking on the beach, eating great seafood and spending some quality time with her granddaughters was just what the oncologist ordered! :)

So, now we’re back and have lots of activities planned over the next few weeks. I hope to do a better job keeping the blog updated. Best laid plans, you know!
